Vaughan Bassett

Located in Galax, Virginia, Vaughan Bassett Furniture Company manufactures bedroom furniture. In 1919, two men, B.C. Vaughan and J.D. Bassett, Sr., both of whom were from Bassett, Va, first started their company.

Mr. Bassett, Sr., along with his brother, C.C. Bassett, also started what today is well known as Bassett Furniture Industries.
Having about 700 people in industrial plants based in Galax, Va, and Elkin, Nc Bassett is incredibly happy with the fact that American workers craft in America 100 percent of our furniture. In fact, Vaughan-Bassett is the largest maker of wooden adult bedroom furniture in the States.
Many of the furniture they manufacture consists of wood solids and wood veneers harvested and grown near our plants in the Southeast. Pine, cherry, maple, pine, ash, poplar, birch and beech are the main species used in Vaughan Bassett's bedroom ranges.
Their number-one priority is providing quality, unequaled support and value to our customers. Simply speaking, nothing makes us more happy than to make it simple for our clients to feel at home.

Sustainability
Vaughan-Bassett Furniture Company is focused on producing its furniture in a responsible and environmentally friendly way. Through its "Starters for One" program, Vaughan Bassett has contributed 150,000 tree seedlings in 2007 to the Virginia Department of Forestry.
The planting of these 150,000 walnut, allows, ash, pine, poplar trees walnut the replacement of every tree used in the creation of the business 's room packages.
Since 2007, 1 million trees have been planted by the Virginia Department of Forestry through this program.
A Virginia state forester, Bettina Ring, produces: "Your notion to put one new tree in VA for every tree you harvest each year is sustainability at its greatest."

Vaughan-Bassett has also installed $2 million state-of-the-art rough end systems in each of its two factories. These computerized end systems that were rough have increased the lumber output by over 20 per cent, thereby considerably lowering the amount of trees needed to create furniture.
Vaughan-Bassett is a leader in the "Buy Local" movement. Over 99 percent of its lumber comes from within 500 miles of its factories - 80 percent from within 200 miles, reducing the carbon footprint associated with the transport of primary raw material.

Vaughan Bassett is a founding member of the Sustainable Furniture Council and is committed to a plan of continuous development of its systems, striving to be an industry leader in producing environmentally accountable bedroom accessories.
